Veyra, Lady of Disease

Called the Plaguemother, she is the contagion that destroys the world. Her symbol is that of a serpent coiled around a broken chalice. Gives the gifts of pestilence, contagion, and twisted vitality. She has worshippers in cults of contagion, poisoners, and desperate healers.

Holy Day

On the last day of the year, Veyra’s holy day, the public is ever vigilant against disease, so they must present themselves to local hospitals, doctors' offices, and temples of Seraphis for inspection. Each person is scanned by what remains of the biosensors and by doctors, and, in any case, from a sneeze to an outright plague, is treated as efficiently as possible or quarantined, no questions asked. Once a person has been inspected, they are injected with a special dye that turns their left hand green; the effect lasts for 24 hours. Toward sunset, anyone not in line at an inspection facility or without a green hand is immediately escorted to a line. For this to be effective, nurses are inspected at the beginning of their shift, and each person is scanned by machines that can provide a verdict in 30 seconds.
