With advances in technology and science, ironworking became the norm, and early concrete, aqueducts, siege engines, professional armies, trade guilds, simple border walls, and long-distance bureaucracy became standard. Authority resided with imperial administrations and guild compacts rather than solely the church. Notable developments included standardized roads that allowed continent-scale trade. Isyra’s order spreads hygiene and “clean law”, reducing plagues and giving cities legitimacy. The first great census: Kaelor’s scribes invent the unbroken ledger system, recording all the people in the land who lived in cities.
