Thryssa, Lady of Tide
Known as the Wave Mother, she keeps a symbol of a curling wave. Gives gifts of currents, fishing bounty, and safe harbors. Worshippers are fishermen, sailors, and islanders. A common sailor folk rite is to toss a cup of water back into the sea before departing. She courts Alvryn, Lord of Skywinds, storms, and waves, mingling. She envies Selvia, Lady of Grain, for land crops are praised more than sea harvests. Once, Taldrin, Lord of Hearthfire, drowned in rage, breaking their short-lived courtship.
Holy Day
Before dawn, nets and boats are inspected for damage, and any needed repairs are noted. Then a cup of fresh water is poured over the ship's bow to symbolize the balance between sea and land. Finally, seaworthy ships set sail to fish. The first catch is released back into the ocean. The rest of the catch that day is given away for free to citizens of the town, never sold on the holy day.
