Uropa, Lady of Rope
The Knotbinder must keep the ropes held fast. She has the symbol of a coiled rope that forms an infinite loop. She has such gifts to keep ropes from fraying, sails from tearing, and knots from slipping. Before sailing, one common folk rite is to tie three knots into a piece of rope and throw it into the sea to ask Uropa to “Hold their lines fast.” She courts Orven, Lords of Paths, but others bind her to Taldrin, Lord of Hearthfire. She envies Thryssa, Lady of Tide, because ropes bind ships, but the sea is always tempted to swallow them. She has once lent her knots to Lyssara, Lady of Oaths, to bind an oath and only for Lyssara to break it; since then, Uropa does not trust her.
Holy Day
It's a day of inspection, ropes from rigging to bridges, and pulleys to cranes are inspected. Every frayed rope is replaced and never mended. Frayed ropes are burned and never trusted again. Then, following the inspection, the games commence: families practice knot-tying and check whose knots can bear the greatest weight. There is bragging for the best, and educational experiences for the rest.
